ISO 14001 Certification
ISO 14001 is the international standard that sets out the requirements for an Environmental Management System (EMS). ESGlogic supports you in achieving certification, with an approach tailored to your organisation, your sector and your specific needs.
Start your certification processWhat is ISO 14001?
ISO 14001 is the international standard that sets out the requirements for an Environmental Management System (EMS), enabling an organisation to:
- Control its environmental impacts
- Ensure compliance with legal obligations
- Prevent pollution and reduce its footprint
- Continuously improve its environmental performance
The core principle is to embed environmental considerations directly into the company's strategy, through a preventive approach and the PDCA cycle (Plan Do Check Act). For an organisation, certification demonstrates its ability to manage the environmental impacts of its activities, products and services, while continuing to pursue its economic objectives.
A new version of the standard, ISO 14001:2026, was published in April 2026, replacing ISO 14001:2015, with a stronger life-cycle approach and better integration of climate-related issues, without overhauling the existing requirements.
The objectives of ISO 14001
- Pollution prevention : limit emissions to air, water and soil, and reduce waste generation at source
- Sustainable use of resources : manage the consumption of energy, water and raw materials
- Climate change mitigation : reduce the carbon footprint of activities and anticipate climate risks
- Biodiversity preservation : limit the impact of activities on ecosystems and natural resources
- Continuous improvement of environmental performance : measure, assess and drive results forward over time
Is your organisation concerned?
Your organisation could consider ISO 14001 certification if:
You respond to public or private tenders where a certified Environmental Management System is required or valued
Your site is subject to strict environmental regulations, operating permits, quotas, emission standards
You are engaged in a structured sustainability approach or assessed on ESG criteria by clients, partners or investors
You are affected by non-financial reporting requirements (CSRD), for which a certified EMS strengthens the reliability of environmental data collection
Our structured approach
Phase 1: Diagnostic and scoping
Before starting the process, we assess:
- Your level of maturity against the standard's requirements
- What still needs to be implemented to achieve certification
- Kick-off meeting, training on the standard and project scoping
Objective: get a complete overview and start off on the right track.
Phase 2: Action plan
We define:
- The priority actions needed to meet the standard's requirements
- The responsibilities and implementation timeline
- The resources required, on both your side and ESGlogic's
Objective: have a clear, validated roadmap before deployment.
Phase 3: Operational deployment
We translate the action plan into concrete initiatives:
- Raising awareness and training teams on the standard's requirements
- Drafting the required formal documentation, procedures, policies and records
- Implementing the necessary actions, processes and tools on the ground
Objective: meet all the standard's requirements ahead of certification.
Phase 4: Audit and certification
We support you through to official certification:
- Internal audit, non-conformity report and corrective action plan
- External audit and certification
Objective: achieve formal recognition and public credibility.
